Well hot damn, we got approved for a home loan out of the blue today. This is huge news if it comes to be. Shannon's flinging herself off of the walls and bouncing off of me but I'm witholding my manic glee for when I see the papers with my own eyes.

Good luck! We're still in the process, trying to find some place that will do a loan without us having $20,000 in the bank. Sigh.

Congrats, Sortelli! :D I'm paying what's only my 5th mortgage payment this month, and it's a HELLA good feeling.

Until I look at the statement. The company I'm with shows the remaining balance, how much was applied to the principal, etc etc... very info-dumping company, which normally is a good thing.

But it's QUITE depressing to see how LITTLE of the principal you're initially paying. Heh. My reactions went something like this.

"Oh, cool, so since I'm paying $750 a month for my mortgage, it's probably taken a grand or so off the principal already, right?"

My wife (reading the numbers) "Uh, try again."

Me : *pauses* "uh..."

My wife "try about $100 per payment is applied toward the principal..."

*SOB* Ah well. At least the interest is tax deductable. :p When you get your place, you have to take pictures, remember. 'tis required!!!

Got a walmart near you? You can take your camera directly into them, they've got a machine that reads the memory cards. You only have to develop a few pics, and they're only like 30ish cents per picture or something like that. Get it saved to CD instead of getting them developed (or get em developed too, so you have a hard copy) and there you go. :)

*gets TONS of pics developed at Walmart, especially since you can upload to them via their website*

I knew you wouldn't let me down. Every couple of weeks I come back to my Elf only inn link praying and hoping against hope that you'd continue with the comic. A link I must remind you that I have refused to delete from my bookmarks list. I think I have that comic on Aug 13 2004 committed to memory.

Congrats on the home loan. I'm working on getting my first home as well... being addicted to World of Warcraft doesn't help tho.

Anyway just wanted to get word to you that knowing that EOI is being updated is the highlight of my day and I'll be spreading the word to remind some of your former regular readers of my aquaintance.

Glad to have you back.

Best wishes,
Alexandra

Grats on the loan. Just wanted to drop by and say I just read your comic for the first time and it rocks. Its nice to see someone describing a disfunctional part of the culture which I happen to be familiar with, and the characters are really very endearing.

Congratulations! I'm in the same boat...we got our approval today, after three MONTHS of jumping through hoops, but I can't relax or celebrate until we get to the closing on Monday and that paperwork is in my hands.

They really make you feel like a criminal when you're applying for a home loan, don't you? Why should WE have to prove we're honest? It's the banks we should be worried about...besides, who'd apply for a mortgage they couldn't afford? You'd just wind up homeless and in legal trouble.

Thank you so much for bringing back EOI! It's probably my favorite comic and I was really bummed both times you pulled production on it. But I'm glad to see you making them again and here's to continued success!

Hello there Aaron, it's me Scott the University student you helped out on my birthday a few years ago. I was turning 21, money was tight, you put me in your comic for a present and it really made my year. I just wanted to say how glad I was to see Elf Only Inn back up after all the down time, it really is funny.
About me, I graduated and am making good money now and sending plenty back home to help out with my brother's family. I moved to China where I'm doing research for American firms and just enjoying life. I personally think it would be funny as hell to have me reappear as a chinese gold farmer again, but either way I just wanted to say "good on you" for making a come back with EOI. The new comic is funny and entertaining, keeping the same old chars that I grew to love. Keep it up bud.

P.S. I'm going to feel like a huge ass if I got your name wrong. A thousand apologizes affendhi

"First, you have to line up financing."

One of the best things you can do is obtain a Home Equity Line of Credit to go along with your home mortgage. (Your downpayment gives you immediate equity in your home).

Today’s Real Estate market means that folks can no longer count on appreciation to build home equity. Those who realize that they need to pay down their current mortgage debt are looking for alternate ways to aggressively (yet safely) build equity.

And they've discovered a perfect online system to do that; they can focus on their wealth accumulation goals while accelerating their equity simply by using a Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) to ‘power’ this ‘financial solutions’ program.

A typical 30 year loan (of whatever type) can be paid down in 1/3 to 1/2 the time — it's a great way to save *huge* amounts of income by eliminating a mortgage amortization front-end interest load. (On a million-plus dollar home, I've personally seen where this particular program will save the homeowner $750,000 in interest charges!)

And the best thing – homeowners don’t have to refinance their existing mortgage or make (little or no) adjustments to their lifestyle.

I’d be happy to provide further details…
