Hasn't it been like three hundred and seventy five internet years since I last poked my head in here? It's really nice to see familiar names again. And familiar icons. And stuff. Glad to see people still care, although I can't foresee EOI coming back from the grave for a... what, fourth or fifth time? I've lost track. I'm honestly shocked that three years on people were still poking here looking for life.

I have to admit it, it just feels too good to -not- do the comic. I don't love it as much as other artists who can stick to a project for the long haul. I hate drawing. I don't LOATHE it, but it doesn't hold my attention. It's not my passion. My passions are banging hot chicks* and playing video games, and no one wants to see me do either of those on the internet.

That said, now that I'm at a place in my life where I feel comfortable swinging a pencil around again there are still a bajillion stories I'd like to tell. They just don't involve that old sendup of online communities that EOI was before I ran out of jokes to tell. There's still some stories there, I had scripts for love triangles and grand adventures but all that nonsense is played. I think if I draw again I will be going in a different direction, which is one of the reasons I dragged my LJ out of the dust so I have a place to slap anything I might scan in the coming days.

Anyways, thanks for being around, guys.

"just the one oh god she is going to kill me"

Well, dude, there IS the wonder of LJ Manage/Edit Entries option! Just re-write it to say "My Passions are banging my hot chick love you honey" or something like that. Easy save! :D

Glad to see you kicking up the dust again, and it will be just awesome to see some of your work again, even if it's not much in the EOI department, as I think you do some tremendous work one way or another.
(and for "work" I can't vouch for your "work" in the bedroom, so I'll just take your word for it....)

Well we haven't been pressing f5 hopefully for 3 years, you just turn up on people's friends pages whenever you start posting again :)

I never was as into the MMORPG version of EOI as the chatroom one with the static character avatars, strangely enough. Plenty of successful webcomics with no new drawing like dinosaur comics do just fine, though the chatroom thing might be a little dated, I dunno. Maybe you could do EOI with twitters :)

Drawn comics though, if you knocked a couple pages more of that story about the Troll they'd be welcome.

Ha ha, yeah Twitter's always good for a few laughs but I can't shake the feeling that a Twitter webcomic would end with some sort of grim suicide pact.

Mr. Sortelli, thank you kind sir for sharing your imagination with us for all those years. And Paltus, the editing wouldn't work, they always find out somehow and then you get in even more trouble for trying to hide it.

Well, fortunately, EOI isn't the sort of story that really requires an ending, and so at least if you never do another strip, there's no great tragedy at it being an unresolved plotline or anything. Not that I wouldn't like to see more, naturally, but if your heart isn't in it, I can barely see the point.

But I would be quite interested in seeing what you come up with next, and will certainly stick around.

Just wanted to say, I hadn't checked EOI in a long time, and on a random whim, checked it and your blog today. Go fig. There must have been a ripple in the undermind. You're popular.

Before the rude and the ungrateful chime in, may I simply pass on the desires of a longtime fan? An ending. Just let us know where they went from there. NONE of the characters were happy, and most of them deserved to be. Yeah.. they aren't real people, but they made me, and many others, happy for a while. Could you do your fans a favor and lay them to ease, if not rest?

Well... April and Percey never get together. Duke and Megan do, but only after a lot of nonsense and Gothgrrl getting in the middle. Duke and his dad come to an understanding. Woot and Barbi have nasty sex. That's about as far as things got in my head.

Wait never mind that part about Woot and Barbi.

I was just checking EOI for the n-th time and thinking "Man, I wonder if Duke and Megan ever get together. I guess I'll never know." Then I checked here.

Just don't make your next comment the one that says "and then Nimoy walked out of the shower and it turned out they had never left the chatroom."

Best of luck in what you're doing now, and your artistic endeavours in the future, and thanks for all of the EOI goodness.

Thank you. As much as I would have loved to have seen this actually done in the comic, this is all I wanted, just to know what happened. It had been left, unfinished, at such an odd time in the story and I just wanted some closure for it.

I love what is there and I'll miss what could have been I suppose, just as long as you keep it there. I always want to be able to go back to EOI. Thank you for bringing something my fiance and I loved so much to us, and something we quote often.

Thanks for that little bit of closure. Of course, I'm pretty sure most of us weren't into EOI for the art. We were here for the story, and that's the important part. If EOI just turned into written fiction rather than a webcomic, I would still be fine with it. Heck, doing that would kind of get back to its roots of being a text-based chat room.

Also, in my head, that "Town Police" thing that Duke's dad got into turned out very well and flourished. I hope that's how you saw it in your head, too. :-)

I'd ask about Nimoy, but, actually, I pretty much know how he turned out. He's still out there, sarcastically commenting on everything and getting caught up in hare-brained schemes devised by other people.

Damn, this is relatively recent. It's like I felt EOI stirred in its sleep, but I guess this little entry means I'll finally remove the comic from my bookmarks. Like many others, I hoped you would eventually continue the story just ffs, boredom, nostalgia, etc. It's not meant to be I suppose.

Hey, if you draw more stuff, link it somewhere in your old comic.

Oh, man. It is awesome that you are updating again. I'm glad you are doing well. I hope you get the opportunity to tell some more stories. I find you to be both a humorous and interesting guy (I actually came back to your LJ to show someone your Marvel 1602 review, which I still love).

Good luck, and thank you for making me laugh for many years!

Wow. I had never checked this before now, on a whim, and I find a statement of conclusion towards the comic. Alas! EOI was, I believe, the third comic I ever read online, after 8-Bit Theater and Dominic Deegan. It's a shame that it's finally in its final resting place.

I have a question- I have a book in which I collect the autographs of webcomic artists. If I were to mail it to you with a prepaid return envelope, would you consider signing it for me? Send me an email. blackmage42 at gmail dot com : )

Thanks for the great run.

Felt compelled to write

I read Elf Only Inn when it was still about a chat channel, got somehow out of the habit around the time that gothboi auditioned for the DnD game and came on a link to it a couple of days ago - and ended up reading from the first issue up until the last.

I just wanted to say that I think you tell a really good story. Quite a few dialog snippets had lodged deep in my psyche and I only realised where they came from during the reread. When I got to the last issue I was left hungry for more, though I get why you decided to stop.

Anyroads thanks for the laughs.

So, it seems that the person in the MSPA forums with the Woot avatar was really you! Alive! XD
Well it's rather good news to hear news from the creator of one of the webcomics I've been so fond of and whose link is still sitting quietly in my bookmarks and that I've been checking once and again from time to time since 2007, along a few others on hiatus I hoped to see come back to life eventually.... (well wasn't that a long sentence)

I'll be keeping an eye out here then. :)

Yes, and it is one of the things I am most proud of. :D

I always have had mixed feelings about giving up on EOI, but at least knowing that the Noob is out there doing such a perfect job doing that kind of online comedy has always been a huge comfort. I still have that button you sent me too.

Hoy hoy, Sortelli!

Random fan here. Hope you're doing well, as many people have also hoped. I have to say, it kinda sucks knowing the comic is (probably) never coming back, but hopefully, there'll always the archives for those of us who still need our fix of elvish fun, copy-and-paste or hand-drawn panel-by-panel comics, intriguing storylines, and MMORPG parodies. Thank you for sharing it with us for as long as you did.

I still think this guy should just copy/paste some artwork from the existing strips and go back to making an ultra lo-fi comic strip about nerd stuff every couple weeks. If drawing sucks, don't do it. I like the early crude colorful ones better than the later well-drawn black and whites anyway.
