Catholicism fail. [Nov. 13th, 2009|02:47 pm]

luciusmalfoy
Apparently Catholic charity has its limits. The Catholic Archdiocese of Washington, D.C. issued a threat to the City Council on Wednesday saying, it would stop helping residents under its social service programs, unless a proposed same-sex marriage law is changed to its liking. The church wants to feel free to discriminate against gays while receiving public funds and the D.C. Council is having none of it. One council member Phil Mendelson (D-At Large), chairman of the judiciary committee said, bluntly we “will not legislate based on threats.”

Rochelle: well his name was percy. that's got a mess with a guy
Rachel: I adore that name
Rochelle: yes. you should rename andy
Rachel: I already have. You don't think he was born Andy do you? I gave him two choices when we met, either he was an Andy or a Drew. Or he could make some other shit up.
Rochelle: what did he go by before?
Rachel: Andrew. lol. So not a big change but I didn't like that
Rochelle: so he totally changed his name. first and last
Rachel: Yeah.
Rochelle: you must have a magical vagina

... well. I was going to post about a dilemma I've been having.

But it's been a while since I last visited LJ, so I've been reading over the friends page.

I don't think I have any right to complain.

My sympathies to those who actually have it bad.

Exton: City In Chaos playtest. [Nov. 11th, 2009|12:33 pm]

I'm thinking about trying to put together a playtest for some of the Exton classes. I've been tooling in the dark, and it'd be nice to get some feedback, and get some play time, despite Those Rat Bastards.

If WotC (or another company) get to actually working on a d20Modern for 4e, we'll have some knowledge of what works and what doesn't ahead of time.

I'm thinking about Play-By-Post through LJ. It might be a while, considering I have to put some of these classes together into something playable.

THINGS I REALLY WANT TO CHECK:

Ranged Defenders (Soldier definitely, Bodyguard somewhat)
Guns & Less Defenses (Especially tooling damage of Soldier and Gunsligner powers)
How an all-human team works.

Classes planned would be: Soldier (defender), Bodyguard (defender), Personality (leader), Doctor (leader), Techie (controller), Gunslinger (striker), Infiltrator (striker).

Yes, it would be combat-heavy. If you're interested, comment.

If you were close to death, what would you choose for your last words? To whom would you want to say them?

I don't want to say anything. I want to die in my sleep, like my grandpa.

Not screaming, like the people in his car.

the life of ME. [Nov. 11th, 2009|04:38 pm]

I'm currently screaming - along with about twenty other authors - at the bullshittery that has been made of a publishing house which brought out a book of ours.

The publishing house is in Canada, Ontario. I'm wondering if anyone knows any lawyers in that neck of the woods? Or if anyone IS a lawyer in that neck of the woods?

Basically I want to break my contract because THESE PEOPLE ARE FUCKING DICKS.

Ode to a Cat [Nov. 9th, 2009|11:39 pm]

danielmayhem
There's been a cat that's been bothering me. While most nagging wildlife is on my roof at two in the morning, this cat isn't even real.

This cat is on Facebook.

The cat in question is one from a popular application on Facebook- Farmville. I suppose players stumble across the cute little kitten while tending to their pixelated fields, and has become a common occurrence. The cat is a collectible in the game, but I'm not certain. Either way, it's driving me nuts- the cat appears at least two or three times a day in my newsfeed on Facebook. I'd like to be making that up, but i'm not kidding.

I want attack that cat so badly. I don't know why I've developed such a hatred for an inanimate object, but it's become a pet peeve of mine. I always develop a weird hatred for odd things, from ways people say words (my friend Primo knows of a certain movie title that if said correctly, makes me shiver and yell at him) to the occasional squirrel on my front lawn. But I've never had such hatred for something on Facebook.

I want to kick a fake cat so hard. Or at least use a thresher. That's on the farm, right?

I hate the Farmville Cat

Listening to the Crossroads album.. and feeling it.

All I need is a hammock and a harmonica.

I pulled some weeds, watered some plants, crocheted some Giftmas items.

I have homework waiting, but it can wait some more.

I may write shortly, but I think I'll make some dinner, pour some wine, and do a little house work in the meantime.

Slow days are good for the soul.

This little girl is yet another random character I would doodle in my high school notebooks. IIRC she was a homeless girl who pretended to be a fairy with using patched together junk, and I had been watching too much Cardcaptors (ROLLERBLADES). I've little interest in drawing her or anything like her today, but it seemed like a design worth making sense of!

Tools used:
[Old version = ball point pen + back of a bowling advertisement]
[New version = micron pen + card stock]

BONUS Copic-Colored version (a bit messy...)

---

Eggghhh been feeling sick lately; awesomely enough it's usually when I sit down at the computer, but if I'm kicked back on the couch drawing throwaway stuff in my sketchbook, I'm fine. Too bad doodles don't pay the rent!

Summer is here with a vengeance. [Nov. 9th, 2009|03:39 pm]

I'm battling heat migraines earlier this year than ever, I think. I feel I may vomit if it gets even half a degree hotter.

I had no idea just how hot it would be when I walked up the hill into town, across town, then back to the market before coming home - in all about an hour of walking in 35C.

I don't function well above 20C, so 35 is Hell.

Today was my 'mental health check'. I cried. That's all I want to say about it for now.

But on the way I took a couple of pictures of pretty little clover blossoms - or whatever they are.

Going to die of omgHeat now. BBL

Oh, also.. I took someone some salad for lunch. He loved it. >_>

Briefly: After early week's miracle, I discovered Nvidia drivers to be the source of the trouble. Vista was good enough to update these for me and thus BREAK MY DELL AGAIN. Then when I had to force-shut down, I killed both hard drive detection and the hard drive. The whole thing is shot to shit.

I now have Windows 7 on my HP, which will have to be my laptop until 2011 or beyond. Ah well...

In other unimportant news, we picked up an entertainment unit, now assembled and full of TV, video games, and DVDs. I also swept through some of the house, clearing out boxes and things. The apartment looks much nicer, and Julie has a desk for her papers and such so we can start having a clear kitchen table for a change.

Nothing else to note really. For now.

chocolate girl [Nov. 9th, 2009|04:19 pm]

luciusmalfoy
My phone is still broken.

I fell asleep on a bar of chocolate last night. I woke up and thought I was covered in blood. No. It was chocolate. I was fucking covered in chocolate.

I called Andy up and was like bitch go home and fix my fucking bed and he's like OH HA HA HA HA YOU GOT BROWN ON YOU. Little fuck.

At least when I got home I discovered he had put that wash on. :/

I still have chocolate on me.

It is itchy.

Guy on one of my writing mailing lists is like OMG CRYS I want it to be CHRISTMAS DAY why don't we have an end of year party that's called the CHRISTMAS PARTY WAILYWAIL and is now writing passive aggressive shite on the forum. He is the same guy who writes WAILYWAIL I'm not participating if someone writes anything about religion or using that as a theme. I have kept my mouth soooo shut because his wailywail is hysterically lulfable. I'm pretty sure he's in his 40s but seems to act like he's 4.

Oh, the lame.

LFR, or Why Can't My Bad Days Stay In One Day For Once? [Nov. 8th, 2009|11:02 am]

nykeyoung
About two weeks back, I saw there was an Level 1-4 LFR mod for the day I have the GRE. I figured I could get there later, and e-mailed the judge if I could get there later.

He said I'd have to remind him on the Friday before, and that he'd hold a table for me. So I sign up.

Friday comes and I'm the only one signed up. I e-mail him that the prospects are slim, so I'm assuming that it'll be cancelled, unless he e-mails back otherwise.

He e-mails back otherwise, saying he's going to try to see if he can't get enough walk-ins. I e-mail back, saying I'll show up.

The day comes, I get out early, get there at a reasonable time, and the mod's only table already began.

I left in a huff. I don't get too many times to play LFR at my level, and I did everything I could've to get in the mod. At least there was the mod on the 21st, right?

Today, I get the e-mail: No more LFR mods for the year.

"I'd like to help you, but it's 69 out. That's too much for me. What do you mean, I'm whining? Why don't you try going out in 69-degree weather? If you want to go out in that weather, be my guest. I'm going to help you from here. What do you mean I need to be out there to help you? It's 69."
